Waiting For Normal by Leslie Connor

Every once in a while you read a book that sticks with you. Waiting for Normal by Leslie Connor is one of those books. Addie is a normal girl who wants to live a normal life, but she does not have a very normal mother. In fact, she has a pretty terrible mother. She's not mean or abusive. It's not that kind of book. Addie's mother is just immature and spontaneous, and she seems to forget a lot of the time that she's even a mom, leaving Addie alone for days. Fortunately, Addie is pretty resilient. This is a book about Addie's struggle to overcome her mom's shortcomings and find some kind of "normal" life. I loved this book. Addie made me feel so sad and so hopeful. I cried for her and I cheered for her. If you are looking for a good realistic fiction, look no further. This is the one for you. (Ms. Donaldson)
